New technologies are needed to minimise companies’ carbon footprint and achieve milestones in climate protection. Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) functions both as a transitional solution and a solution for those industries that have few possibilities to reduce carbon emissions ("hard-to-abate" industries). CCUS also offers an alternative to emissions trading.

Carbon Capture and Storage

Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a technology that permanently withdraws emitted CO2 from the atmosphere and moves it to final storage. This method is used to capture CO2 at the emissions point and transport it to onshore and offshore long-term storage sites. CCS is thus an important component in achieving climate goals.

Carbon Capture and Utilisation

Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) also removes emitted CO2 from the atmosphere. In this process, the captured carbon is fed into the circular economy, for example as a raw material for the chemicals industry and is used in a variety of industrial processes such as methanol production.

Our solution for CO2

We work closely with our customers to support them in dealing with the current requirements of the carbon market by developing the first sustainable rail logistics solutions for the transportation of separated carbon. These solutions, along with our experience in the field of dangerous goods transport, allow us to position ourselves as a strategic partner for transporting CO2 –from producers to final storage and recycling. We are already laying the groundwork for safe, standardised transport of this sensitive cargo.
